TODAY’S THEME……………….Fresh

04 Mar

I took this picture less than an hour ago.

We got 10 inches or so of fresh powder snow and it’s lovely!

The soft white clean blanket of snow covers everything….including my well-trodden path in my back woods but no matter….it’ll be back in no time and ready to use.

I think what attracts me so much to this area and my land in particular is the PRIVACY!

I KNOW, with a certainty that absolutely no one has been back there in the last 25 years except me and there are areas of the very back of my property that I’m certain have NEVER been walked by ANY human.

This area is not hundreds of years from it’s discovery…much less in fact and the look of my hardest to reach bush convinces me it has never been logged or hunted  as the only PRACTICAL access to is is through my property.

We are having a visit from our grand kids in a few days and I’m going to re-introduce them to the numerous bunny and squirrel tracks back there.

We are planning to take them ice fishing as well but it’s VERY dependant on how cold it is and remains.

Too warm and we worry about slush and thin ice but too cold and they won’t stay long.

Never mind…..some branches and Birch bark, easy to find on the lake shore and we’ll have a weenie roast on the ice and Thermoses of HOT CHOCOLATE…now who wouldn’t enjoy that?

If we do go I will DEFINITELY get some pictures.

Where are the dog tracks after they left you eating their snow dust? Should be fun for you the kids and the dogs, come fishin time.

I can “hear” the silence and see the serenity of this scene…this is why I love a fresh winter snow. It’s amazing to think of the absence of human touch in your bush areas. I too love the quiet of a “country” life.
