TODAY’S THEME………………….Feminine Abandoned

I saw this theme when I first read the theme list and it puzzled me from the start.

Maybe the only way to reconcile the 2 words would be to leave my wife….which seemed both extreme after nearly 25 years of blissful happiness and cruel….given her cooking ability……(OUCH!!!   That’s gonna leave a mark for sure! ).

A few weeks ago she ‘mentioned’…( read …..’complained’ ) that her exercise stair-climbing elliptical do-dad had developed a squeak.

I foolishly retorted that if it were KEPT at a high speed the squeak would be nearly unnoticeable through the panting……( that DID leave a bruise ).

Well!!….I’m a MAN and fixing squeaks are what we were bred for and believe we do BEST.

With a strong mechanical background and brimming with confidence ( apparently both mystical & seriously delusional) I decided it required nothing more than a quick lick & a lube….some  ‘ tender loving’  and it would be rectified and I’d be in her good books once again…..perhaps even avoiding the doghouse for the whole winter.

Sadly…it was not to be and the ‘home’ away from beckons.

The squeak, originally diagnosed by an EXPERT diagnostician as a simple drop of oil and a dab or grease in the right place turned out to be something broken and if you’ve ever tried to repair ANYTHING made in China you know it was put together with that most uniquely Oriental concept that it was NEVER INTENDED to be taken apart and MOST CERTAINLY not repaired.

Too much stubborn Irish in me makes those concepts unreconcilable and I was now determined to make it right!

Some home welding of a not too shabby style, visible in the left hand pedal has repaired the break….however….as is often the case, time and tides have interrupted my well-meaning labours and what with fun, food, grandkids and other sundry duties…both real, fabricated and imagined, the job lies….incomplete and despite me taking the cover intended to protect my keyboard off the keyboard and covering the bike thingee……SHE has removed it so one and all ( mostly one ) can and MUST see this shamefully unfinished job and suffer for it……….( mostly the same one ).

The grandkids just left this afternoon so ALL hope of future postponement  must now be abandoned.

I got the hint and tomorrow is the day the teddy bears will have their picnic….. pedaling I hope!

She now states she wishes she had NEVER even mentioned the squeak and if I would be able to fix it!

And women think we’re not too clever
